The long awaited adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s instant success Daisy Jones and the Six is finally out on Amazon Prime on March 3! In celebration of the event, I’ve put together the top books by Taylor Jenkins Reid and all the films we expect to see from the works.

The novel, published in 2019, tells the story of the rise and fall of a fictional rock band in the 1970s. The book is written in an oral history format, with various characters telling their own version of events. The story centres around Daisy Jones, a young and beautiful singer who dreams of becoming a rock star, and The Six, a successful band led by guitarist Billy Dunne.

Synopsis of Daisy Jones & The Six

Daisy and Billy are both struggling with personal demons, and when they meet, they recognise something in each other. Daisy joins The Six as a backup singer, but her talent and charisma soon make her the focus of the band. The group becomes an overnight sensation, but tensions rise as Daisy’s star power threatens to eclipse The Six.

As the band tours the country, they must navigate their complicated relationships with each other and with drugs and alcohol. Daisy and Billy’s attraction to each other complicates matters further. As a result, it leads to a steamy romance that threatens to tear the band apart.

The story is told through interviews with band members, managers, and other people in their orbit. Above all, it gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at the music industry and the personal struggles of the characters. The book ultimately explores themes of ambition, addiction, love, and the price of fame.

“Daisy Jones is an electrifying persona, similar to the likes of Janis Joplin, but is a complete enigma.”
